snohomish wedding, french creek estates- katie & matt

From Katie about the big day- “We feel incredibly lucky that we were able to plan the day exactly how we wanted it. We wanted to throw a party, and planned the day around making sure everyone would have a good time. We wanted a causal “garden party.” The day was exactly how we wanted it, we had such a wonderful time and wish we could live the day over and over again! We gave hardback copies of the Prophet by Khahil Gigran as wedding favors because an excerpt was read during our ceremony and it’s one of my favorite books. I couldn’t have done it without my Mom. She spent countless hours ordering old copies of the Prophet off of the internet (I insisted on hardback). She stayed up many nights before the wedding putting the books together with the custom bookmarks. There were many little special touches at the wedding, and they could not have been executed without her. I had such a blast planning the wedding with my Mom. My favorite moments of the day were seeing Matt for the first time. Being married by my uncle which made the ceremony extra special and personal. The quiet minutes alone with my dad right before he walked me down the aisle. I’ll never forget the moment he looked at me and said “this is the happiest day of my life. I’m so proud of you.”

whidbey island wedding, freeland hall- kathleen & jon

In addition to having the most perfect weather, a joyous ceremony and the best dance party ever, these two raised a whole bunch of money for cancer research. They asked their guests to donate money instead of giving gifts and organized a dessert dash at their wedding. Simple breakdown of the dessert dash; you create a collection of irresistible sweets and display them on a pretty table. Add a card by each dessert explaining what makes it so awesome; from your best friend’s famous coconut birthday cake to those weird yet lucky bacon covered cupcakes. Set an envelope on each table and explain that the table with the highest donation in the envelope will be first to pick a dessert from the table of delights. Collect and tally the donations and let your jaw drop to the ground in response to the generosity of your friends and family.
